Supporting Our Police for a Safer Laguna Beach

GYM/EQUIPMENT
The City and the Laguna Beach County Water District were able to identify a perfect space and set it aside for use as a gym. Officers then put in a request to the Foundation for specific gym equipment that would meet their needs, and we were thrilled to support the grassroots initiative by purchasing equipment to make this dream a reality.

ATVs
Many of the areas in Laguna Beach where police response is needed – particularly beaches and the extensive network of hiking trails in the areas surrounding our community – are inaccessible to traditional vehicles. Through a generous donation from board member Steve Chadima and his partner, Mark Porterfield, the Foundation was able to purchase two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to ensure that officers are able to respond quickly to emergencies in those areas.
CANINE VESTS
Through a generous donation from board member Bob Roper, the Foundation was able to purchase custom protective vests for two department K-9s. Each dog is measured in 27 different areas to create a custom vest that is perfectly fitted to them. The vest is stab- and slash-resistant and provides underbelly impalement protection as well, ensuring that the K-9s are well protected as they undertake often dangerous missions on behalf of the community.
