POLICE & COMMUNITY FOUNDATION EQUIPS GYM FACILITY FOR POLICE OFFICERS AND STAFF

The Laguna Beach Police and Community Foundation (www.lbpcf.org) announced today that it had completed the purchase of equipment for a new gym for use by officers and staff. The purchase was made possible by a generous donation from board member Amber Offield and the Offield Family Foundation.

Sergeant Randy Bitonti, Detective Supervisor noted “The department gym started as a wild idea, shadowed by a lot of doubt. Seeing this idea come to fruition has been extremely rewarding for our department. I believe that it showed our team, if you want something bad enough and are willing to think outside the box, you can make it happen.”

“As a board member of the Laguna Beach Police and Community Foundation, we clearly recognized the physical and mental health benefits that can come from easy access to a gym,” noted Amber Offield. “The City and the Laguna Beach County Water District were able to identify a perfect space and set it aside for use as a gym. Officers then put in a request to the Foundation for specific gym equipment that would meet their needs, and we were thrilled to support the grassroots initiative by purchasing equipment to make this dream a reality. Supporting Laguna Beach Police Department's wellbeing and health is a priority for Laguna Beach and Community Foundation and we look forward to future opportunities.”

Added Sergeant Bitonti, “I have already heard a lot of positive feedback from many of our department members, all of whom use the gym on a regular basis. I am confident the use of the gym will translate to a healthier department, both physically and mentally. All of this in turn will lead to a team that operates at a higher, more optimal level of performance. We are grateful for the support and relationship this project has helped us create with the Police and Community Foundation. “

As a federally tax exempt non-profit public charity under IRC Section 501(c)(3), the LBPCF is able to accept tax-deductible donations to support its work. Please visit the Foundation’s website at www.lbpcf.org to learn more, sign up for future updates and contribute to the Foundation.

Members of the Foundation’s board will also be on hand during Hospitality Night on December 1 to answer any questions you might have. Stop by our booth on ForestAvenue in front of Buchard’s Pharmacy from 5 to 9 pm for more information.
