“My Why”, By Nolan Miura, Board of Directors

This is Nolan Miura and am honored to be a member of the Laguna Beach Police & Community Foundation’s board. I am a 14-year Laguna Beach resident and served on several for-profit and non-profit boards.

In my lifetime I have seen good policing and not-so-good policing. I choose good policing! We are fortunate to have this in Laguna Beach. This is a direct result of strong leadership and selfless, well-trained police officers and staff. However, we cannot abdicate all responsibility for keeping us safe to LBPD. The citizens of Laguna Beach must also take responsibility and vigorously support LBPD in keeping our city safe. That is “My Why” and the reason I joined the Laguna Beach Police & Community Foundation.

The Foundation’s goal is to raise funds and provide grants to fill gaps to support LBPD officers and staff in areas of need. This strengthens the bond between members of LBPD and our community. It also allows us to retain high-quality officers and staff at a time when it is not easy to be a police officer. We must continue to attract the very best police officers to Laguna Beach who do this dangerous and thankless job for all the right reasons.
